Investors in People (IIP) is the UK's leading accreditation for business improvement through people management, and provides a wealth of resources for businesses to innovate, improve and grow, with a focus on good people making great business. Recently the assessment process has been given an overhaul resulting in a much more rigorous appraisal of organisations’ processes and internal workings in relation to people management and development and how that contributes to business success.
The assessment highlighted a number of key strengths particularly around the key principle of living the organisation’s values and managing performance.
Heather Beattie (IIP Practitioner) stated: “The current team has a good balance of people who have been established in the business for a number of years and bring knowledge and expertise to the table, as well as a number of more recent joiners.”
Clearly recruiting not only the best people but the right people is essential for the success of any business and the report stated that “PayStream have identified what makes a high performing employee. The “PayStream person” was very much evident and the core element of this is focused on values and behaviours.”
According to the report, it was also evident that a central element to PayStream’s continuing success is that “[they] have created a culture of openness and trust… [and] leaders were observed as positive role models in their dealings with staff and with the practitioner during the review visits”. PayStream has plans in place for growth over the coming years and the report highlights that “there is a very strong commitment to build capacity and managing the performance of the team. There are a plethora of activities in place to support the development of people’s skills.”
PayStream recognise that continued success centres on its people development and fully embrace the business benefits that a relationship with IIP can bring. The culture, capacity and capability of the team is key to success.
Paul Malley, managing director of PayStream said: “PayStream are delighted to have maintained the Investors in People Silver standard. Our commitment to delivering a truly exceptional service to our customers is built on a motivated and committed workforce.”
