Joy Recruitment has been bought by Berry Recruitment Group (BRG), bringing its number of branches to 36. Founder and owner of Joy Recruitment, Andrea Lach will stay on at the agency. Andrea previously worked at Berry Recruitment and left in 2007 to launch her own business, which is located in West Wickham in North Kent.
The business now has five staff and specialises in the construction, white collar, commercial and recruitment-to-recruitment sectors. Around 90 per cent of its placements are permanent, but it is expected to increase its temporary and contract work now it is part of BRG.
“I started working for Tony Berry – now chairman of BRG - 25 years ago and then left to set up Joy Recruitment which was named after my mother Joyce,” says Ms Lach. “She worked with me and looked after our books right until she died last year at the age of 90. I have had other offers for the business but I’ve always kept in touch with Berry and knew I could trust them completely.
“Having backing from a big group and a powerful name in the industry means we have more scope for marketing and ability to grow the branch,” she adds. “Our construction desk covers the whole country and we will continue to grow that as well as our teams covering the commercial and white collar sectors. We will also aim to add more strings to our bow and develop into new areas of recruitment.”
Berry Recruitment managing director Lee Gamble, said: “We have monitored the success of Andrea since she set up Joy Recruitment and we’re delighted to have her back.
“Berry Recruitment already has a good presence across the region with offices in Sutton, Croydon and Maidstone, and this additional office in North Kent further strengthens our offering,” he says. “We anticipate that we will re-brand the business under the Berry Recruitment name in due course.
“Andrea’s staff are of a high quality and motivated to grow the branch and add to the continued success of Berry Recruitment Group,” concludes Gamble.
