Engaging Report

UK & Europe

The 2017 list of Most Socially Engaged Staffing Agencies from LinkedIn has shown recruitment firms in the UK demonstrating the highest levels of social engagement. The ranking reflects staffing firms’ diligence in integrating social media into their business strategies, and shows which recruiters are successfully harnessing the power of social media as a way to build their brands.

The 2017 Most Socially Engaged Staffing Agencies list is based on an extensive analysis of the interactions between over 60,000 staffing firms, 627,000 consultants, and 500 million members on LinkedIn over the past year. LinkedIn also looked at a range of metrics including social selling index, content marketing, reach, and talent brand index via LinkedIn.

The study found that the British-based PageGroup has the highest levels of social engagement of all large recruitment agencies globally, moving up from second place in 2016. UK agencies Hays and Robert Walters also featured in the top three, while five of the ten most socially engaged large agencies are located in the UK.

LinkedIn’s ranking also found that UK recruiters dominate the medium enterprise category, with 20 of the top 25 in the EMEA list located in the UK, and GQR Global Markets coming in at first place. The list also reveals that every medium sized agency in this year’s top 10 has moved up the rankings compared to 2016, reflecting the fact that social engagement has become a bigger priority for UK businesses in the last 12 months.

PageGroup Group marketing director, Eamon Collins, said: “We are delighted to have reclaimed the title of LinkedIn’s Most Socially Engaged Staffing Agency. The award reflects the commitment by everyone at PageGroup to continually strengthen relationships with our customers, whether clients or candidates.”
“Our strategy is to deliver ‘seriously useful’ content through a personalised approach to communication with clients and candidates, and to ensure our consultants have the content they need to build their own personal brands on social. This recognition from LinkedIn is very welcome and we will continue to ensure that good quality shareable content is right at the heart of our approach”, explains Mr. Collins.

Commenting on the research, Melissa Furze, senior insights manager at LinkedIn EMEA, said, “It’s great to see that UK recruitment agencies are leading the way when it comes to social engagement. With more than 24,000 recruitment agencies in the UK alone, job-seekers have a wealth of options when looking for a new role. This means that the effective use of social media to engage and attract candidates, as well as new business leads, can be a huge advantage to recruiters looking to stand out from the crowd in this competitive environment.’’

Melissa continued, ‘‘I encourage recruiters of all sizes, up and down the country, to take their steer from the agencies we’ve highlighted in 2017’s Most Socially Engaged Staffing Agencies list, and put social engagement at the heart of their business growth strategies for the future.’’

Melissa also shared her three top tips for improving an agency’s social engagement:

1Invest in consultants’ professional brands. This could be through company-aligned photography, or internal competitions for InMail engagement.

2Engage with LinkedIn members - start conversations in relevant groups or even start a new group to discuss industry topics.

3Create relevant content - enrich members’ feeds with helpful tips and tricks, and the agency will stand out from the crowd.
