After three years as manager for HR GO Driving, based in Peterborough, Jane Mallan is putting her experience to good use as managing director of HR GO (Driving Fenlands) Limited, a new joint venture (JV) with HR GO Plc. Under Jane’s management, the Peterborough branch has been so successful that she is opening a new branch at Chatteris. Jane says the new structure means “business as usual, but even better.”
Before joining HR GO, Jane spent 18 years with a multi-national business. During that time, she discovered a passion for driving recruitment and switched from receptionist to driving consultant. She was promoted to manage a national driving centre operation that included a local branch, LGV (Large Goods Vehicle) training school and 24-hour service for the whole company. She was promoted again to Regional Manager for the South looking after a dozen branches.
Jane said: “I have worked for five driving recruitment companies in my life and was always asked why I didn’t set up my own. Until now, I never had the resources to do that, although it was always my ambition to run my own driving business.
“HR GO has given me that opportunity and I want to make this JV the company that all drivers and hauliers think of when they need a driver or are looking for work,” she said. “Through the JV, I have great support from a national company that’s been established for 60 years and a talented team of colleagues. We all believe in the same ethic – great customer service, respect for professional drivers, always being available to give help and advice, and, above all, a passion for the industry.”
Jack Parkinson, chairman of HR GO Plc, has for 40 years pioneered JVs with talented individuals in the business, convinced that a personal stake gives them an even bigger incentive to succeed and earn rewards to match.
A great example of this is Human Engineering, a JV started in 2005 with a £5,000 stake from each of the four partners and which was sold 13 years later for almost £5 million. On top of the rewards of salary, profit share bonuses and dividends, the four JV partners received almost £2.5 million between them.
“This was a very happy conclusion for all parties,” Jack said, adding: “I’m delighted to welcome Jane as managing director of HR GO (Driving Fenlands) in Peterborough. She has achieved so much in her time with us as branch manager and I’m confident that she will be even more successful as managing director of the new joint venture.”
