The February 2017 Jobs Online report from the New Zealand Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment has shown another increase in jobs. Overall, the All Vacancies Index increased by 1.2 per cent in February 2017 with vacancies increasing in six out of eight industry groups. The biggest contributors were construction and engineering (up 2.6 per cent) and education and training (up 1.3 per cent).
Vacancies increased in all occupation groups with the largest increases delivered by machinery drivers and operators (up 1.6 per cent) and managers (up 1.5 per cent). Vacancies also increased in all skill levels. The largest increases were in highly skilled (up 1.7 per cent), and skilled (up 1.2 per cent) occupations. Regionally, increases were felt in eight out of ten regions. The biggest increase was in the Nelson/Tasman/Marlborough/West Coast (up 1.9 per cent) region.
